tay-tay
This weekend, we made the trip down to Tacoma on Fri, Sat and Sun to watch four soccer games of Kalin's sister, Taylor. She was playing with her relatively-new club team which also played up here last year. We feel quite lucky that she has been up for some soccer while we've lived up here--it is amazing to watch her in action. Kalin and I agreed that no one gets past Taylor--she's a stud, but amazingly humble when we praised her about her incredible ability. She'll definitely be an asset to whichever college team she plays for. But more than soccer, we just loved that she was here, that we were able to spend some time together, share some meals...that good quality time.
I learned a bit more about soccer as each of the games went on--rules, positions, etc. My brief stint at first grade soccer didn't pan out, and I don't remember a thing, except we were the Unicorns and we never scored a goal.
But anyways...Kalin's Auntie Christine came down to watch on Saturday and she is such a treat to be around and to talk to. We missed going to her house for Easter since she was sick, which didn't let up for about 7 weeks! So, we were happy she was well and able to spend the day with us.
p.s. today is one month from our last days at our jobs up here in Seattle--then it's on to our California adventure!

k&k recommend - burgers
During our time here in Seattle, we have gotten to know some places quite well and try to frequent them as much as possible. So, I thought I would start some sort of guide of all our favorites in case you ever make it up to the Emerald City.

I'll start off with burger joints. These types of places are one of our favorite and cheapest way to eat out on Friday Night Date Nites. These two places are good in different ways, which will be explained below.

Dick's Drive In.
Not only is it up the street, it is cheap! Dick keeps his prices low by his awesome execution of economics and price-structure model. Kalin and I usually go get our usual, go back to the car and just watch this place in action. Everyone working there is utilizing their time to the fullest and when the crowd dies down, they close down and start cleaning. It is absolutely amazing to watch. The place is spotless. Dick also offers some benefits to all his employees that are hard to beat. Full-time and part-time both receive either some sort of tuition stipend or day-care coverage. They are fully benefited for health insurance. And they start them off at a competitive rate. He is doing something right--this place is going to be around for awhile with their simple, yet effective business model.

Red Mill Burger
Red Mill is the place to go for a hearty burger, delicious fries and a shake (in many flavors). They have a wide variety of burgers, chicken burgers, bean burgers and they are all packed with lots of flavor. The walls are lined with funny old clocks from soda pop companies that no longer exist and a large painting of a red mill. There is also a note on the wall from a little kid saying that when they move, they'll be sad because there is not a Red Mill close. I'll feel their pain, soon.
So, those are our two burger joints we frequent when we can and they never let us down.

fantastic weekend....and more to come...

Things are a bit a-typical for Kalin and I these past few weeks and the weeks to come. Namely, we have so much going on, people coming and going. It's kind of a nice change, I must admit.
This weekend, Kalin surprised me (which is AWESOME, because I love surprises) with tickets to Cirque Du Soleil Corteo. He also found this funny little Italian restaurant to go to before hand. It was adorable and small, but the food was delicious! After dinner, we headed towards the big top. The show was in-cred-i-ble. We both agreed we'd gotten our monies worth by intermission. I didn't really follow the story, but each stunt or piece of the show was stunning. They are so extremely talented. I was really impressed. Now, we want to see all the other shows out there... Needless to say, it was a wonderful night. Sunday was sunny, so we took the bikes out, which was oh-so-enjoyable. I like this Sunny Seattle business...it makes so much more sense.
We're looking forward to Taylor coming this weekend and then my family with grandparents in tow for Kayla's graduation the following weekend...Then, it's time to start packing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gocco.
In my letterpress class our teacher, Lisa, mentioned a type of screen printing called Gocco. I was interested and decided to look into it. On etsy, they have a tutorial for how-to...super easy. The equipment you have to buy is from Japan, making it about a bit more expensive, but I'll be asking for one for Christmas. Check it out:
